Exploded Moments

An exploded moment looks at life through a microscope so that you can appreciate all of the fine details of a moment.  Today we will be brainstorming some of the things we can see, hear, taste, touch and smell at the beach.  Think about a moment from your summer that you can explode, brainstorm, and write a detailed paragraph.  Post your paragraph in the comment section below and sign your name. Be sure to proofread for grammar and spelling.

As I walk up to the shoreline, I see waves crashing close to my feet looking like an animal about to pounce on it's prey. As I look below into the teal sparkling ocean, I see tiny barnacles spread across jagged rocks. Then I look a little further out to find almost microscopic fish swimming in schools. I then return to my blanket and a whole different world.

The bright sun around me turns into a black night. Holding onto the air I have like a child holding onto his blanket. My arms and legs flailing around like a crab on it's back, I'm trying to reach to reach the surface. I open my eyes and see a blue blanket covering me, making sure every inch of my body is surrounded in it's hold. The coldness of the water is refreshing like a glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. I feel the slippery and slimy bottom of the freezing cold pool. I push off the bottom and shoot up to the surface like a rocket. Reaching the surface and gasping for air, I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin.

I glance at the rooftops of the buildings and at the people, with the faces of excitement and happiness. Their arms are high in the air, looking as if they could touch the sky and take it within their grasp. The cold, stuffy air ambushes my smiling face. The butterflies thrash and kick at my stomach, trying to speak. My feet planted to the ground from some unknown instinct. The seatbelt, holding on for dear life wont let up yet. The cart shakes like a raging animal coming for its prey. It gives a unsettling and preposterous feeling of free falling. The air, at the peak of dissolving into the night sky, dry's my open mouth. I to am dissolving into the night, as we ease to a stop in the cart. I rid of the butterflies and left the roller coaster to wait till the next day.

The headrest came down and froze on my shoulders. We were set to go when the floor vanished, like a balloon that escaped it's tether. We swung around to face the loop, towering over us, the size of the Empire State building. Then I can hear the rumble of the car letting the metal tracks steer it while we start the loop. I had made it, ascended and descended it. While going around the loop I heard people screaming, but me, I'm a laughing hyena, from realizing that going upside down isn't bad. I can taste the adrenaline filling me up from the end of being upside down.

The first thing I find among the crowd is the Rocks, slippery smooth with spray rocketing off their surface. They are jagged rocks, and are cutting up the waves like razors. I wade into the forever coming waves. Into the water I plunge tasting the salt in my mouth. Ready to get out I move to the beach. Halfway there I turn to watch the tiny fish in there sharp suits, pretty with shimmering jewels. The crushing waves dive down as if finding cover from their enemy's attack. They don't stop there though, they ever slowly creep forward until they engulf my feet. There they reach the point where they are going to retreat. I am going to the beach. Upon my arrival I feel the change in temperature. As I step closer I can feel the Hot sand trying to singe me, tell me I am only welcome in the water. This is not my territory they tell me, I must leave. One more thing nags at me, the smell. As high tide goes out the smell becomes one of murky water and mysterious depths. It is gross like last night's dinner. Everything can smell it. Yet none want anything to do with it. Even me. So I leave.

As the evening sun falls into place, the water shimmers like diamonds; until a fierce wave interrupts and the light scatters across the whole ocean. The hungry ocean erodes the sand away, always coming back for more. I can't hear the music being blasted in the distance, it is being muffled by the loud roars of the sea, pounding on the sand underneath it. The aroma of salty air hits me like fresh cut grass on a cool summer evening. Standing on the shoreline, the wet sand pulls me down into it, securely cradling my feet. As I cut through the icy water it feels like I'm stepping outside on a crisp winter morning. I can taste the salt in my mouth as a wave pelts my face with incredible force, pushing me under and trying to take me back to the shoreline with it.

We finally get to the top of the line, I can see the people down below, they look like ants scrambling to get to their hill. The worker takes the tube and tosses it down on the platform. When me and my friend get into the tube all I can see is my friends dirty-blond hair and the thrilling water ride, just waiting for its next victims. My heart beating rapidly, just like a drum roll. 3...2...1... GONE! The steep dip shoots us down! All I can here is myself screaming, and my friend laughing at me! Every twist and turn, another epic thrill! I couldn't see it coming, CRASH! We hit the pool and the tube flipped! When I come up for a gasp of air, all I can see is a few strands of water cloaked hair, and my friend laughing at me. Of cores I laugh back, and make him carry up the dripping tube. -Shannon M.

As I got into the water I felt the numbing cold ocean on my legs. I felt my gloves and wet suit loosen as I go further into the water. I saw many boats off in the distance like cars in a big city. I saw the water slowly rise higher and higher as I got deeper and deeper. I tasted the saltiness of the ocean from my mouthpiece as I put it in mouth. I heard a boat slowly riding off into the endless horizon. Then I went underwater.

I hear the ocean whisper to me as I lift the shell to my ear. The sun cradles me in its long, warm rays. I embrace the welcoming, but I'm more appreciative of the oceans cool breeze. It brings me in and pulls me under, but I always kept coming back up for another fight. I feel the current, tearing the sand out from underneath me, like quickly ripping off a Band-Aid. The smell of salt fills my nose and the feel of it fills my eyes (and my mouth!). The sun was set and I could almost rip the cotton-candy from the sky. As I left I looked back and all I saw was the ocean...waving.

I feel the sudden jerk of the beast as it makes its journey to the great hill awaiting us in the crimson twilight. Inside the cart, I smell the pungent aroma of steamy rubber and sticky plastic as we climb the magnificent tower. In my mouth, I detect the faint, salty residue of 30-minute-old popcorn. I feel the wind shrieking through my wet mane. Inside, I can only feel pure excitement and the sense that everything is spinning without control.
With every waking second, the cart grows nearer and nearer to the climax of our ascension. My sweaty hands close tighter around the icy metal columns to my left and right. Inside I am screaming, but outside, I am a safe shut tight.

I could smell the salt particals flying by my face like dust from a sand storm. I could see the fish jumping off in the distance like seals jumping for there turn with the beach ball. You could feel the smooth soft silk like sand slithering underneath your feet. You can taste the bitter taste of salt flying into your mouth. The thumps from the waves sound like monsters stomping in a dream.

As Jackie and I gaze up to the dark sky, only being lit up by stars like shimmering glasses on a table in the sunlight, all conversations stop. I feel the crisp cool air against my face, and smell the scent of the nearby woods. Everyone points and stands in awe while seeing a shooting star flash by, glowing just like if a piece of the sun is drifting away in the darkness of the night.

I could taste the sweetness of chlorine before I even stepped onto the blocks. The smell of fear and chlorine ears up all of the other wonderful scents of delicious foods. The sound of the buzzer imitating a cannon makes me jump before I dive in. Bleach water fills up my goggles, blinding me as I hit the surface of the water. The chlorine burns my eyes but the more my eyes burn, the wider my eyes get. The cold, dense water pulls me back as I swim as hard as I can to escape from its grip. As I start my last turn, I realize that someone is ahead of me swimming faster than a shark. I swim as fast as I can for the rest of the race. My legs are numb but I know that I have to keep going. My lungs are about to about to explode. Water invites itself in my mouth and nostrils as if trying to choke me. Only five more yards to go. I tuck my head in for my last three stokes. One, two...three. I slam my hands into the touch pad as hard as I can and shoot up like a missile, gasping for air. I drag my drained body out of the the pool and ask my coach how I do this every day. All he replied back to me was, "The pool is where you live."

I stand their in awe as I watch the gigantic waves crash against the shore like a herd of buffaloes in the great plain. Foam, like clumps of soap are left behind on the shore as the endless sea recedes back to the ocean. I look around and see kids chasing seagulls like a cat chasing a mouse. I hear the laughter and giggles of the children as they chase the birds like banshees, seagulls screeching scurrying for food. I stop and dig my feet into the lava like sand, hotter than I can imagine. I can taste the salt of the oceans from the swift breeze as it presses against my face. I close my eyes,I can feel the suns rays against my face, feel the hot sand encasing my feet in its grasp. And without warning the tide comes in. ]

I hear the hose spitting out the water for the next batch of ammo in the distance. My friend and I are gazing at each other to see who will throw first. Suddenly she chucks the yellow balloon like a fast ball. I turn to run as the water balloon explodes on my side. The sudden pain is like being hit with a frozen snow ball. The icy cold arctic water covers my bathing suit. As we both run to the bucket of balloons through the itchy grass each balloon yells pick me pick me. Even before I get my balloons she chucks a green one at me. I put my arm in front of my face and the water explodes in my mouth like I just drank from the faucet. Now it is time for revenge. The smooth refreshing water raided the coastal rocks with endless waves of attacks. Seagulls screeched in the air fighting for a piece of food. The blazing sand hissed as the waves trampled it in its path. The cool water made the sand stick onto my skin like glue, water made the seaweed dance in freedom under the destruction of the waves . The taste of the salty water gave my taste buds a drought in my mouth. The inferno in the sky began to go down leaving the sky orange. i stood there waiting for the moon to make the sky midnight blue. -Christian G

Rolling, my mind escapes my body. Tumbling, my body feels uncontrollable; As if it were stuck in a wave's boisterous riptide, gladsomely clapping for the sand as if it just won a medal. As my fragile limbs plunge down the grass covered hill, memories spin, dance in my head. As the adrenaline builds, small green wisps briskly graze my blistering sun cheeks. Candied cinnamon dirt races into my mouth, like a little girl racing into her fathers spacious, safe arms. As my body lags, the rolling becomes for forceful. The wooden drum pounds an enchanting yet ferocious medley in my chest.

There I am at the tip of the atmosphere looking down at people so small there like ants surrounding a pile of food. Fear and excitement building up waiting to just pour out. While I am caught between a cat fight between gravity and the strap to my seat my mouth is a dry desert on a hot day. I wait. The breeze passes by me calm and relaxing , kids and parents screaming in the night like coyotes howling to the moon. I hear a snap and we drop.

A bubble floats down over my head and suddenly a burst of screams and cheers fill my ears. Looking up from the path laid before me, the fluffy, white clouds grab my attention when they have the chance. They frame the painting above me. The slow, deep beating against my ribs hurt and I wince slightly. Strong wafts of the smell of pretzels overtake me and I feel sick to my stomach. Scanning the faces around me I realize I'm not the only one. Faces of all kinds and all emotions surround me, closing in on me, until I am trapped in a little box. The cool night air whisphers secrets to me, feeling calm and relaxed compared to the whoosh of air the rollercoaster, looming over me, mid-spin, breaths down to Earth. I can smell the anxiety in the air, cold and fresh, minty and sharp. A lone baseball hat floats to the ground in a hot air balloon. The constant pound of drums fill the air in my bubble and I wonder if anyone else can hear it. I take a shaky step forward in the line for the rollercoster ride. It feels as if I had just experienced an earthquake. Maybe i had.

The boat left the harbor and slowly gained speed like a snowball rolling down a mountain. As the boat propelled through the deep dark sapphire water the waves crashed up against the bow creating a trail of foam. It reminded me of the moment you drop vanilla ice cream into a mug of chilled root bear. Far out across the horizon I saw a burst of water alerting me to a whale in the distance. The force of the wind was extremely powerful, whipping my jacket and stinging my face, making it difficult to move towards the edge of the boat. AS I approached the edge of the boat my senses were awakened by the salty mist. The sent was so strong I could taste the salt on the tip of my tongue. AS we pasted an island I could hear the puffins chirping in harmony as if they were in an orchestra.

All I could see was the Goliath Towers staring down at me in front of a cloudy sky like I was in terribly deep trouble. It was like I was looking right at my fate. It was as if a thunderstorm was going to roll in towards a haunted house. AS I walked up to Goliath I could hear the screams of the people that were on the ride like they were running for their lives. I listened to music as I waited in line like a scary movie scene playing dramatic music. The saliva in my mouth was dirt dry before we got on the ride. When it was my turn I was just haunted house scared. As we went up Goliath I was holding on for my life because we were looking downwards and I wasn't strapped in tight. It felt like it would be my last ride. I just hung there with the screams of all the people on Goliath filling my ears. I could just feel the handle bars just slipping away from me as my greasy sweaty hands. I could smell the sweat of my hands as I went up Goliath. The whole time I rode Goliath all I saw was the grey sky and the ground. When the ride was I could hear the sigh of relief when I saw the exit knowing that I was still alive.

I see the pool water settled, waiting for the big, crashing moment about to happen in seconds, as I wait anxiously for my feet to leave the diving board. Your feet moving back and forth, like a swing, when you're in mid-air, gasping for breath before you go under. You see the last glimpse of nature, right before you go under the cool chlorine water. You can hear the big SPLASH of the water right when you smack it. You hear the bubbles that you make when you're under, just like a tiny fish. It's dead silent all around you. You can feel the end of the diving board shaking as the wind blows against it. The one second sting when you hit the cold pool water. You touch the bottom of the pool ground, and you sometimes get excited when you touch it. You taste the excitment and fear, right when you leave the diving board. You can taste the chlorine water when your mouth is accidently open. You can even smell the fear and excitment right before you jump in. You also smell the chlorine water because it's so strong.

As I sit in the Tower of Terror , I secure myself with the lap belt and shoulder strap , the cart brings me through a narrated story of the deaths on the "elevator". as the doors open the whole cart drops in the darkness, as we go down I can see the blurred walls as the whole cart free falls past them. As we keep going up and down I can feel my stomach drop to my knees and then shoot right back up into my chest. I smell the beads of sweat that fear is causing. Every time we dropped unexpectedly I heard the blood shrieking screams of the people around me like they just saw a ghost. I can taste the coldness from the wind as I fall down. When the last drop came we were done forever. -Sydney Morse

The perfect ice cream is given to me. I notice the chocolate chunks are sticking out in the large crowd. I already can imagine the chunks dissolving in my mouth. I lay my body down in the grass as it tickles my bare skin. The ice cream drips down onto my leg, leaving a shivering feeling. As I go in for the first lick, the aroma of body odor rushes past my nostrils. My tounge strokes upward and I taste vanilla with its many compliments. The tounge strokes downward and gathers the lost pieces that did not make the last lick. My grasp becomes and tighter and firm and the cone crumbles beneath the voices. One last lick, and my teeth smash together and sweep up the remaining chunks.

The feeling of accomplishment rushes through me as we reach the top of the mountain. The sight of the calm trees beginning to dance like a new couple with the wind refreshes me. My family smiling and laughing as we sit on jagged rocks. It smells vaguely like a lake and new born pine trees. As my family continues to celebrate I sit there in the sun baking like a chocolate chunk cookie. As my family takes out lunch I just sit there and enjoy.

I set a foot the edge of the brilliant blue pool, my sizzling feet eager to cool off. I take a few large steps back, and pull down my plastic face mask into place.
I start sprinting towards the in-cased water, and everything slows down, as if it was one frame per second on a laggy computer. I finally reach the edge of the tiny clean ocean, and jump in.
My feet slap against the water, sting, but in a good way. I stare blankly at the Banana River, as it travels higher, or am I going lower? Droplets of water fly through the air, bright sunlight streaming through them, causing them to shine like jelly-beans. My head is engulfed by the chlorinated water, it squeezes through my goggles, stinging my psyched eyes. Bubbles travel up my bathing suit, tickling me pleasantly.
I finally reach the bottom of the pool, my feet still stinging, then I realize, I need oxygen! Time returns to normal as my face breaks the perfect surface, I gasp for air. Then I hear my mother say:
"Time to get out of the pool."

I keep a firm grip on the handles of the tube, these two handles are what will anchor me in on the tube, they are what will keep me safe from the horrors below. The boat driver looks back and yells at us ''are you ready?'' I respond with a single hand gesture that will decide my fate on this tube. The driver starts the engine of the boat, the hum of it so peaceful, compared to how it will sound in a few seconds. The driver looks back, grinning at me, challenging me, all I do is nod signaling I accept. Suddenly, the engine explodes into life, tugging me along the deep blue waves with this powerful machine. I smack head first into a wave sending me straight up into the air, and i land with a soft thud, I tighten my grip on the tubes handles, knowing if i fall off I wont be going back on, all my muscles straining to keep me on the tube, and suddenly I am propelled off into the air, feeling weightless hanging above the blue lake, and I land with a Clear loud plop.

I dash into the endless oasis of blue as I look up at the bacon like dusk sky holding the sun within its grasp. The rays dances down on my skin only to be quickly covered by the enormous crystal like wall that lies before me. I taste the salt as it slams into my now stinging body, covering the veiw of what I almost smelled th beauty of. My body scraping against the never forgiving sand which feels like broken glass stabbing my skin. Only faintly can I hear the seagulls squealing at there next meal that has been swept out to the sea, swallowed by the blue tide like a toddler crying because his favorite toy was swept out to sea never to be seen again. I rise out of the sinkhole like water, putting aside all my pain only to see what I once saw before, a painting hung high in the evening sky, filled with beauty.

As I entered the crowded restaurant, I saw people all around coming in for the delicious, mouth-watering food. That heavenly scent touched my nose and I felt instantly hungry. We traveled the bank maze like a rat to the food counter. “Number 8 Please?” When we got the food, the first bite of chicken was bursting with flavor and it was crunchy. My excitement pushed out any worry that I had before. The roller coaster stalled at the top just before dropping, debating whether or not to continue. Just as fast as we had stopped, I was hurled as fast as one of my arrows, just escaping my bow. Some people screamed with excitement, others with fear. Most were fire sirens blazing down a hot summer street. Wind gushed into my mouth as I let out a banshee scream. The air swarmed around me more and more as I got closer to my destination

As I rise up high on the tallest roller coaster i’ve ever been on, i can feel the adrenaline rush going through my body. When i look down it like i’m looking down from the top of the Empire State Building. As we get higher and higher i can here the people behind me screaming their eyes out. We finally got to the top and there is a ninety degree drop and we are left hanging there, at that moment i can feel the tension in my body. When it dropped it was like you were to jump off a cliff, you couldn’t feel anything except the air in your face.

As I stare at the crystal clear lake I can smell the sizzling burgers as they lie on top of the burning grill. The smell of the burgers fill my nose with great smell of the juicy bacon. As I hear the waves crash up against the slippery dock I rush out to try to fight against the slippery dock. As I try to get on the deck I hear everyone screaming the food is done so I let the dock win and go bite in to a mouthful of juicy burger.

The tide is coming in like an army trying to overthrow the sand. The coat of water is covering the sandbar, making our only way of getting back to the main island disappear. As we run across the sandbar I hear the splash of my family's feet like the thunder on a stormy day. As we hurry across the rock covered sandbar I taste the peanut butter bagel I had on the island like a sweet after taste of a delicious dinner. I cringe as my feet are stabbed by the rocks on the sandbar as I try to walk to the other side of the slightly submerged sandbar. I can smell the salt in the water as I wade through the freezing water that feels like it came straight from the arctic circle. But I managed to get to the main island.

Waiting for the pitch,I notice the exhaustion on the batters face. The pitcher ready, standing gaining the strength to throw the bullet like pitch. The water climbs up itself and reaches up to the sky then tumbles over like a small child learning to walk. The surf charges the protective barrier of the sandbar until gravity forces it back down to the ocean below. a jellyfish rides the wave in like a surfer then slaps onto the wet sand not far from me. The salty water stings my feet and tempts me to bend over and itch them but I am preoccupied. The air is crisp and clean and carries the scent of fried dough and cinnamon, the scent is so strong and delicious that it drowns out whatever salty smell might be filling the air. The screech of the seagulls scouring the beach for food complements the crashing of the waves on the sand. As I take another step in, I think to myself; home can wait a little longer.

The waves crash up into the boat soaking my shoes like grass on a rainy day. The water splashing up into my face leaving behind that salty taste. I see the fish and their glistening gills, swimming by my long, squishy, slimy worm, nibble by nibble. The other motor boat racing by as if at the Indianapolis 500, hopefully not scaring away my fish. Also the noise of other people's bait shadering the waters frame. I hear my line go sprinting across the ferocious waves. The adrenalin rushing through my vanes, as I click the reel and start reeling in the fish. "Zeeeee" ! The fish makes a splash, causing a earthquake across the water. Before I know it I'm holding the beautiful, glistening slippery and slimy fish.

The waves calming down like a kid ready for bed. Out in the distance chocolate brown heads appear moving fast to get away from any unwanted visitors. As we move closer to the water the sound of families packing up blankets and coolers after a long day of laughing and swimming, and the long pauses before the next wave crashes to shore. The scratchy grains of sand pierce the soles of my feet, but the Arctic water cools them as it rises to my ankles. I still stand there smelling the strong sent of salt water stinging my nose. IN the distance I see a mound of sand, a little island for the chocolate brown heads to rest and stay safe from the predators. The sudden jerk of my cart crams me into the corner, following with the weight if my companions bashing into my side, leaving the resonance of a raging bull in mu gut. the side of the metallic cart sears my shoulder from the piercing sun, which floods my eyes as it reflects from the whirring mechanic contraption before me. My grip of the bleached rubber bar instinctively tightens till my knuckles and veins are so exposed that my muscles pulse tensely and my bones become rigid shards of glass. My hair whips and snaps violently above my shoulder, billowing wildly in a hurricane gust, screeching in my ears. Carnival buzzers tune out the wind and a chattering chorus of passerby's floods my ears. I find a light circus theme; cheerful pipes caught in the background. Brilliant whirling light bulbs spin on the ride like boldly colored tops. The wafting scent of fried dough and popcorn drifts in the warm summer air and fills my nose. Ahead of me, another cart is barreling towards me with tremendous speed., like a meteor falling to earth. I bite my tongue against it all. Everything starts to blur. In this moment I can see everything surrounding me, because it is all the same. Every feeling, sight and smell mixes and marbles. The sounds become distant echoes, resounding from every direction. It was the bottom of the 6th inning, losing by one. Could I bring in one more run? I was ready to step up to the plate still tasting the sun flower seeds. I could smell the sweet smell of hotdogs and popcorn which made my mouth water. The sound my batting gloves make griping the bat made me feel like a snake ready to strike. The vibration of the bat made, making contact with the ball was like a flash of lightning. My team roared louder than thunder as a ran for second base. My heart was racing my feet were pounding on the dirt field. I suddenly found myself sliding into second. Was I safe? It didn't matter I got that last run in. I graze the soft cool grass, kids rushing by, shoving others on their way to find a seat. Colors of bright red, excruciating oranges and wonderful yellows wrap among the shining stars and midnight sky. Smokes soars above like a hawk scrambling for prey. I settle down as the flames glow across the field presenting all the smirks and smiles as everyone watches the bursts of the fire flare. Giggles of friends, kid’s shrieks for sugary snacks, and the lion roar of the fire close around the like a tight sweater your grandma gives you for Christmas. The aroma of smoke, snacks, and nature fill the air, as if they were freshly baked cookies. The fire died down and took the lion’s roar with it. Families headed home with memories that will last forever.

Looking down the beach, no one in sight, did everyone evacuate? Off in the distance of the dark and dreary sea. Seals. Pop their heads up, like the game whack-a mole. The horizon lays, reflecting itself on the clear mirror of the sea. Walking down the beach, seashells lay so peacefully, millions of them, in every shape and size. Just like people. The calmness of the ocean puts me to sleep. Just as a lullaby soothes a baby. I could taste the salty air, so powerful and strong, waters my eyes, as if I ate a spicy jalapeno. The sand, so tender and hot, burns the bottom of my feet, like stepping on a path of burning coals. The smell of dead fish, sickening and gross. Just like when my trash hasn't been taken out.

At the front of the church, the large stained glass doors swing open like a blooming flower’s petals unveiling the beauty underneath. There, standing underneath the arc of the doors is the bride. Glittering gems are shining through a lenient white cloud all around the luxurious dress. The bride’s French manicured hands are clutched around her father’s arm like a growing vine wrapping around its supporting pole. All eyes in the church are immovable from the angel that strolls down the aisle in rhythm with the slow yet powerful music playing in the background. The train of the dress sweeps the floor with elegance. Photographers are scattered around the church like lions stalking their prey, waiting for just the right moment to attack and snap a picture. I can smell the sweet scent of Calla Lilies soaring in the air and sneaking its way into the tunnel above my mouth. I just can’t contain the roaring river inside of me any longer. The powerful currents of the river pour out of my eyes and stream down the side of my face. My trembling lips absorb the tears and the salty flavor tickles my taste buds. But some currents of the river decide to change course and tumble off the edge of my face and waterfall to the floor.

As I walked into Chicago’s Wrigley Field on a warm sunny day in August, I saw thousands of excited fans entering into the baseball stadium. Upon entering the stadium concourse, the ballpark reminded me of Fenway Park in Boston. Wrigley Field was built just two years after Fenway Park in 1914. The hand-operated scoreboard, just like the one at Fenway, made me feel right at home. As I sat watching the game with my family, I couldn’t help but notice how the brilliant afternoon sun made all the colors of the stadium so vivid.
I listened with amusement as the Cubs fans loudly rooted for their beloved team while also using “colorful” words to express their dislike of the Los Angeles Dodgers as they scored their runs. There’s nothing like hearing the sharp crack of a bat against a fastball and the cheers that come from the crowd when the ball goes over the fence for a homerun. Unfortunately, the homerun came from the bat of a Dodger! As I watched the game, the smell of food from the other fans made me incredibly hungry. I enjoyed the taste of a crunchy hotdog in a warm steamed bun. It had just enough mustard and ketchup to make the flavor perfect. It was the best thing I tasted all weekend. The last thing I heard that day was when the umpire hollered “STRIKE” for the last out of the game and it meant another loss for the Cubs. I wished the Cubs had beaten the Dodgers but I would have felt much worse if it was the Red Sox that had lost!

I see the great sun lay out on the lush blue of the ocean. The mighty waves crashing against my legs relentlessly making a monsterous sound. I can taste the salt from the ocean splashing up at me. I can smell the nice ocean air flowing over me like a river. I can feelthe cool ocean crashing against me.

The translucent surface of the water had always made my eyes determine which was prettier. The glistening beauty of the sand, or the lustrous appeal of the water reflecting the afternoon sun. Though the beautiful sight adorned me, it was stopped by the banshee like children wailing through out the rock-strewn beach. I turned to look behind me. My aunt called out to me, saying I needed to some back. I was at a restaurant; the pungent taste of salt washed over me. A taste of the newly prepared food now entered my thoughts, leaving no trace of the waves, or children crying out. The steam escaped and tenderly touched my face with its friendly welcome. I let it slide down my throat like hot water down a pipe. We drove back to my Grandmother's home afterwards, and the scents of her fresh vegetable garden brought more of my senses back. Her house smelled of what was almost like an embrace of home.

I gaze upon the sea, clear as glass. The powerful glares of sunshine dance along the water. The sight seemed cloned to a ballerina hard at work. I step forwards letting my foot drop into a never ending abyss of slimy, worm like seaweed. The slippery plant takes grasp of my feet slapping handcuffs on them. the weed locks me up and throws out the key. At that moment I plunge into the frigid water. The sleek ocean water then gathers its minions and intrudes my mouth giving me the overwhelming taste of an over salted pretzel. The salt sits on my lips causing me too cringe. Finally i am able to climb out from the water. Before leaving the water i take one last look at the sea , the seaweed , the white sand that could easily be mistaken for snow, and the salt swishing in sync with the microscopic jellyfish. Before pivoting my foot and leaving for good I inhale the low tide stench. My stomach drops into a black hole. And on that day I learned the beach just isn't for me

On this day this shock came to me when I woke up. I had a horrible feeling that something was going to go wrong today. And it did, my bunny Benji died. As I walked up to the cage he was as still as a rock. At that point I knew he was at peace gut I could not find peace as I realized that a part or my life was gone forever. My dad said I could touch the fur one last time before we had to dig a grave and burry him.

I could see the white and yellow speedboat in front of me, just waiting to whip me, like a noodle slapping a pool. As we sped off, and skidded over the lake, the water began to stir like a restless child. The motor sounded like a bullfrog, croaking into a megaphone. My friend who was on the tube with me was screaming like an angry gull, after I had just stolen its lunch. While the boat was yanking us around like a boat in tug of war, foul fish water had somehow made its way into my mouth. I could feel a wide smile spread across my face, like the horizon stretching across the open ocean. The wind was blowing in my face and it felt like I was going 100 miles per hour in a race car. The grotesque smell of gasoline seeped through my nose as the engine roared, ripping my friend and I through the water. One second I was sitting in the tube. The next, I was floating on my back in the water.

As I hop into the bobbing tube I snatched my balance back to prevent myself from falling. The motar roars like a lion andi hold on with all my might. The boat whips through the chilling water. Waves tower eachother and then collide throwing water everywhere. I attempt not to fall but the waves are to powerful. I soar through the air like a bird. My body falls into the fridged water. I go under everything black. As I come to the surface I am gasping for air.

As I dived into a wave it felt like crashing though a wall of solid ice. As I stood back up I could taste the salty water and smell of ocean breeze as I still moved to dive into another wave the rough sand scratched my feet and pilled up as the current pushed against me. I could hear seagulls screeching at people for food as I looked forward I saw waves getting bigger and faster as they came to try and knock me down.

Even me. So I leave.

The butterflies are fluttering, dodging leaves and flowers, like mini jets in an obstacle course. Quails running through walkways, as if they were cars crossing train tracks. I see the leaves shaking, waving hello. I can hear the quails' little feet patting on the floor, like pins dropping. The squash of yet another distant quail egg makes my heart sink. The butterflies float onto my fingers looking like large gemstone rings.

Slowly up the hill the cart on the roller coaster goes. The clacking of the chain pulling the cart up hill. My hands are clasped in an iron grip on the safety bars so tight my knuckles are weight the. Cart just floats for a second at the top. Suddenly the cart jumps in to motion my ears are filled with piercing screeches of the fellow passengers and my stomach is full of butterfly's. The cart rolls to a stop and I get of the ride

I see it. Far away from me. The cardboard deer, mocking me that I will miss it. No. I won't let that happen. Not today as long as I had bet my brother that I would hit it dead center in the heart. I pull the long arrow as I concentrate on this moment. I hear my brother behind me, as he cheers me on. I feel the strong bow in my hand as I keep the arrow in place on the very back of the string. I breathe in and out slowly and.... BULLSEYE!

I walk into the icy cold water, as it lightly hits my feet, giving me chills. I look around noticing the seashells shining through the water and the crashing waves acting as if they were trying to reach me. I can taste the salt of the ocean water sneaking it's way into my mouth and sticking to my body.

As I am in Seattle, I am going on a Ferris wheel. As I am going up, I am exploding with fear like a bomb just went off. It is as tall as a skyscraper. While we are going around I am over the water and can see little fish. I can barely see them because they are like the size of a grain of sand. I can hear all of the people below me talking, and they were talking so loud that it was like they were screaming babies. As I am going around I can smell the salt from the ocean and it is like I am breathing in salt. I can taste my chocolate dessert, and when I am done with it I have so much chocolate left over my face that it is like having leftovers. That was my day on the Ferris wheel and I wish I could relive it every day.

Down the creeky elevator to the path that led to the falls. I climbed up the path to the water that tumbled off the cliff, down into the aggravated lake below. The sun shined like a lone star on a clear summers night. The sky was cloudless and blue like the color of my eyes. As I walked closer and closer to the massive waterfall, I got drenched as if I was the target of a water balloon fight. When I reached the closest point I had to turn away because of the bullet like water hitting me as if I was a shield. The falls pounded down on us like a baker beating the dough to make bread. The experience was truely incredible. To get up close to, in my opinion, the most amazing natural landmark I've ever seen was a once in a lifetime event.

As I pranced around curiously, cheerleaders from side to side, preparing for the biggest competition in the world. Music as loud as seagulls fighting over a piece of bread. As I stepped foot on to the warm up mat my stomach turned with fear. The sent of sweat filled the gigantic warm up room. "Will the next team take the mat please." This is it, the biggest competition in the world!

The clinging chains were jingle bells on a sleigh while we climb Mt.Everest. The screams were like screaming banshees fighting for there food. When suddenly we plunged into the deep darkness of the cave. The stench of fire reeked the cave like salt water on a beach. The sun started to find me in cave of the rolocoaster.

As I walk down to the icy cold water I watch as the waves begin there formation and then crash onto the beach sucking in the glimmering seashells off of the sand when I look down into the water I see the sun dancing around in its reflection in the water like a dancer dancing in there studio watching themselves in the mirror.
As I got closer to the water I could start to taste that bad taste of salt water in my mouth and I could also start smelling that unwanted smell of sea salt . That moment I reached the water the waves were icy cold. It felt good though because the sun burnt the sand that I walked on to reach the water. As I stand there I hear kids playing and bulding sand castles in the background

I see a dark blue saphire wavering in the moon light. I hear michevous kids playing catch and destroying sand castles of the days past. The feel of the of the cool sand under my feet as if cooling off from a day of burning people's feet all day. The taste of the perfectly salty water on my lips fills my mouth. I smell of the wafting aroma of salt from the mysteriously blue sea.

The first thing I saw was the huge jumps on the track . I was happy to be raceing again. I was in first and everything was perfect I was doing good in till I saw a duble before the wips. I was going to clear the jump but thenI pulled my clutch. My bike made me lean to the front and my front tier hit he jump and I saw a tier and my elbow got stuck in it and I broke my elbow. This was the hardest track ever but it was fun.

Watching it slowly glide across the goal line, it felt like I was watching an old basketball movie, when the ball rolls around the rim in slow motion. When I heard the whistle blow and saw the ball in the net, I knew we had won. In that moment I leaped over the side, forgetting everything behind me. I ran as fast as my feet could take me, to the people that would be joining me in that final moment. It felt as if the world had been lifted off our shoulders, reliving us of that stressful burden. The crowd was roaring, but I didn't notice this, because I was to focused on the death squeeze my friends were giving me. The way we were hugging each other, we could've passed as best friends reuniting after ten years. It's impossable to explain the emotion we were feeling, it was like winning the lottery over and over again. I could smell everyones sweat from playing as hard as we had been, and if you didn't know that we had just played our game, it would've seemed like we'd been caught in pouring rain. Hockey playoffs are stressful.
