My cold, sweaty hands grip the package so tightly I think it will burst on the spot. I force my lips into a kind of smile, the one that you feel when you might just cry- or die in my case. All of the goons eyes are trained on me, my feet exactly the need to make sure I don't run; run to a safe place. I finish the package isn't anything but an empty shoe-box, but then I see it, it dawns on me and the memories flood back into my head, but it's too, late now. Everyone starts running but me, the fear has run out of me so I close my eyes and BOOM! The place goes up in smoke, and the last thing I see is the package lying meaninglessly, then it goes out of sight, out of reach, and now, out of my mind.

I woke up three minutes before the horn blew. Sitting up in my bed, I saw the officer outside. This officer was the only one that was nice and understanding here. He had helped me in the most dramatic times and stuck up for me, since I am only a child of the age of fourteen. I only had a little time left. The officer gave me a signal, and I crept outside. He handed me the warm bread and I stuffed it in my mouth. I finished chewing and jumped back into bed as the horn sounded. Just on time.

1 more out. Thats it. Only one more out until we win the championship. The other teams girl steps up to the plate hitting the mound hard with her bat. I take a deep breath as I wind up my arm spins around, throwing a pitch. Strike one! I know everyone is counting on me. So many thoughts fill my mind as I present the ball to the catcher. I throw the pitch. Strike two! All I need is one more strike. My heart is beating fast, as I grip my hands tight. I take a deep breath as I wind up. As I release the ball, all i am left to see is a bright yellow ball with ripped up red seams across the plate. Right down the middle.

As the defender came charging at me, I was so angry and furious like he was the one who caused all the problems in my life. I went after him like I wanted to kill him, I hit into him so hard that he fell down. I looked behind me because its not like hes getting up anytime soon. The running back I opened the gap for had almost got a touchdown. After that I walked away grinning.

My heart is pounding, my hands are shaking so hard that I can't get the release on the string. I steady myself as much as I can and get the kisser knock up on my cheek. I look down the peep sight and line up the ten yard pin on the first deer that comes by my blind. I think that I am steady, and think: "form, form, form." I pull the trigger on the release and send the arrow rocketing toward the deer's front shoulder, or at least that's what it looked like. The doe ducked when it heard the bow go off and by doing so, dodged the arrow, only sacrificing a few hairs. The arrow buries itself in the ground. I curse the deer as it runs off, never to be seen again. -Steven O.

My hands are drenched in sweat as if I dipped them in a bucket of water. I stand in fear, waiting to turn the corner wondering what ghoul or monster would come out at me next. I kreep around the corner slightling making sure I'm not a ponderous fool when I take a step. Suddenly I'm in shock, I see the light only three feet away and then bam. Only tree feet away........ Just only three feet... Just only three...... Just only....... Just.

It was my thirteenth birthday and the sun was sparkling over Lake Shirley. The aroma of choclate chip pancakes and crispy bacon snuck up into my room. I dashed down the stairs, and my family sprang up with joy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I was overwhelmed with hugs and presents. I was about to open my last present, I examined the box carfully and ripped the wrapping paper. YES, an IPhone, exactly what I wanted. My heart was pounding with excitment, I finally got an IPhone after all that wishing. My birthday was complete.

The sounds are getting closer with every passing second. I sit there, quite confused. Should I run? I could try to hide. If I stay here, they are sure to find me. I decide to run for it. I gather up all my courage and head for the woods. As soon as my bare feet crunch on the dry leaves and sharp twigs, I regret my decision. But there was no turning back now. I run as hard as I can to escape the approaching monsters behind me. I know they are after me. They know where I am. A cool sweat starts to break out on my forehead, even though I am cold. My lungs feel like they are about to collapse and every step kills. Suddenly the sounds become deafening and something hits my head. Hard. I stumble for a second, then fall, and my world goes pitch black. It slowly gets brighter and brighter until it is blinding. Then.......I am gone.

There it was, the pest infected coffin. I put down my shovel and opened it. Inside it was my piece of gold that he stole from me. I went to go grab it but he grabbed me with his bony hand. Then all of a sudden I was in another world of pain.

I'm going to Nico's house in a couple of minutes! I'm so excited! We can play basketball, then we can go swimming in his pool! I hope he has those delicious chips that he had the last time. Maybe we can even have a sleepover! We can watch some movies and then watch the Celtics! It's going to be one fun day at Nico's!

I heard the creaking floor boards! I could smell the suspense coming. All the sudden the lights fliquered. The doors opened and closed. We had no clue what was happening! Then we heard an evil laugh, we believed it was a devil. But were we sure what it was? The answer was, no! Then all the sudden my palms started to sweat, and when my palms sweat that's a sign that I am very nervous. We heard a loud beep, and the power went out. The door swung open and a gust of wind blew in! There was an evil laugh, and the walls closed in all around us. There was five of us and all the sudden one was missing. But the real question was, Who was it and what where they doing?

I stepped outside and the cold wind stung my face and nearly knocked me over. It was a cold night and the trees were creaking in the wind. I heard something over in the woods and looked over without thinking, I saw a hunched over, dark figure in the distance, lurking.

My adrenaline pumping and my face sweating, I approach the free throw line. Guys on the right of me and the left of me all bending over of exhaustion, trying to catch their breath. I take one dribble then another. My legs are shaking, I have butterflies in my stomach and the next thing I know the ball was out of my hands. As it soared through the air I look around and see everyone's eyes on the ball. They keep watching, and watching until.....

The sky was dark, and the streets were foggy. As I jogged down the street I looked behind my to see if I was being followed. Nothing was behind me, or at least I thought so. There was no wind, yet the air was so cold it broke through my windbreaker. The second I stopped jogging to take a rest, I heard a noise. Now, I'm not exctly sure what the noise was, but it sounded like a mix between a cricket chirp and a low throaghty frog croak, and it happened in several, slow, bursts. I then heard it again, this time in front of me. Then I felt like I was surrounded by a wall of noise, coming from all around me. I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. I finally opened my eyes again to see hundreds of pairs of yellow eyes looking at me. This was the first, and unfortunently last time that I would would see these creatures again, but before the end came,I made sure I knew as many things as I possibly could, but all I could make out of them were their sharp, beady eyes, that were above my chest. This is it, I thought. As the first creature stepped forward, it made a clicking noise. Suddenly, hundreds of eyes rushed towards me. Embracing my death, sat down on the asphault, thinking if there would ever be another human to walk this dark Earth, as on the year 4703, the human race went extinct.

We were walking steadily down a dark, long road. My friend Rebbecca and I were both drawn in by a mysterious hole, which was on the side of the road. In a deep trance both Rebbecca and I were finding ourselves closer and closer to this massive hole. Our bodies are being forced to move closer, while we try to run in the other direction. But there's no use, you are not in control anymore...they are. The closer we got to the hole the bigger it grew. Expanding about two feet, every step we took. We're so close...right near the enormous hole. We stop walking, we feel a small breeze, and all we see is darkness, and darkness is what we'll see see forever.

Dark, cold, anger and fear are only a few of the sensations I feel as I run for my life. The south african jungle can seem very beautiful, but it's no playground. There are spiders that will kill you almost instantly with their venomous bites, large carnivorous cats can tear you apart like wet paper and black caimans that are unusually aggressive crocodiles. Although I have a predator that is much worse...

9th inning, 2 outs 2 strikes, 3 balls 4-5 bases loaded, If I miss the ball its over. this ball determines it all if we win or we lose. I got ready for the ball it was coming in fast, I held the bat tight swung the bat. The ball and the bat met..... All I see is the ball high in the air. And over the fence it goes.. As I tip toe down the hall I get closer and closer to the office door. I can here the hushed angry whispers. An all I need is to get a better picture of what is going on, and this is the only way. I need to reassure my self that the situation between my parents and the bank isn't as bad as I think. No! All of a sudden my foot hits that horrible loose floor board. The door to the office starts to open and I freeze on the spot. Now I may never find out what's going on.

It was a dark and gloomy day. The sun didn't come out. I went to get a glass of lemonade and found that I forgot to put the ice in. I had warm lemonade. My dog died. I never really liked that dog. It was a Saturday. I had nothing to do. So, I just sat on the couch all day. Then it started raining. I hate rain. When my parents got home, they got in a fight. My dad left. Sure won't see him again. Dinner was horrible. Meatloaf again. My mom didn't talk much. Niether did I. It started sleeting. I don't like sleet. Then it was Sunday.

I could feel my heart slamming against my rib cage, bound to snap every single little bone if this kept up. I knew my time was thin, and slowing my speed would only led to failure. Janice needed me. I couldn't let her down. After all we've been through, after all that's happened, THIS is how it ends? No. No, it wouldn't end like this. I was Janice's only hope. The one person in the world that she could count on. I couldn't let her down. The stakes were too high, she was my only friend, and... and I loved her. I couldn't fail. I had to push every single thought out of my head except for one thing. Saving her, and her alone. She was my friend. She was my love. She... she was my everything...

As I approached the lone, dark house, sad and desolated from the world, I could only hope that I hadn't been to slow. I could only hope that Janice was okay. I could only hope for her love, her happiness, her safety. I could only hope for everything to turn out alright, and for things to return to as they once were...

I swung the door open. "JANICE!" No response. "JANIIICE!!!" Still, no response. Instantly, I knew something wasn't right. I stepped forward. Nothing but rotting floor boards. I turned the corner. And...I...I froze. Dread washed over my body. Misery condemned my mind. Despair filled my soul. Laying there on the floor before me... Oh God. No. Please no. This couldn't be happening... I-it couldn't. I... I...

I was too late.

I was shivering because of the chilly wind rubbing against my arms giving me goosebumps. The intensity made me sweat. And the dark corridor made it feel like there was someone at the end of it. As I took one step into the darkness, the floorboards creaked and made a faint echo throughout the abandoned mansion. I looked to my right and saw the brick stove still burning. To my left was a dinning hall full of freshly cooked food. 'Someones still here' I thought. All of a sudden what looked like to be a little girl walked across the corridor but she stopped. The little girl looked a at me, she had a pleasant smile on her face. She waved to me and skipped down the hall.

It's the Nba finals, Celtics Lakers and I'm watching from the couch at home. Against all odds the Celtics have made it back, but they are down in the series 3 games to one. There is 10 seconds left in the 4th quarter and they are down two. This is probably their last chance before they have to rebuild with younger players. My palms are sweating and I am biting my nails down to stubs because I'm so nervous. This is their last chance for a championship for at least 4 years. They inbound the ball. KG sets a high screen for Rondo and he attacks the basket. He runs into some traffic in the lane but pulls back out and lofts up a floater just in time to beat the buzzer. I jump up and scream GET IN! The ball is like a beach ball just floating there for what seems like an eternity just floating there..

I heard a knock. The power went out. There was nothing but silence surrounding us. I could tell I wasn't the only one in the room. Suddenly, the wind blew the window opened, the stairs were creaking, as if someone where coming upstairs. I looked, quietly, and slowly, taking cautious steps. I peered my head around the corner. There was no one there. The bathroom door slammed. The toilet flushed, the front door bell rang. I slowly creeped down the stairs, but as I stepped off of the last stair, i got distracted by the sound of pans slamming against eachother. I took small steps into the kitchen, nothing was there, except for the pans scattered all around the floor, I flinched, and all of a sudden someone was pounding on the back door, I looked out the window, there was a sound of scratching on the front door. I heard the front door bell ring again. I knew it was going to get me. I opened the door, and it was standing..right..there..

It was a dark, cold, windy night outside. I was home alone and I was just about ready to go to bed. As i was walking upstairs the lights started flickering and all of a sudden I heard a noise like someone was in our house, my heart started raising and I started shacking. As I was making my way down the hallway I heard creaking as if someone was walking upstairs, my stomached dropped. When i finally got to my room, I took one step in and all of a sudden the door slammed the lights were burned out and I saw a shadow like there was something outside my door so I reached for my phone to call my parents and my phone died. Then I opened my door looked out and it was just my cat I was so relieved then the lights came back on and my parents were coming up my driveway.

It was a very dull and boring evening and I was browsing around an antique store. Wait no. A junk store. It was basically a big dumpster. The layers of dust covering everything made my eyes water like crazy. I don't think the place was looked through for at least 50 years! I plowed my way through piles of moldy books and boxes full of old stained clothes to the back of the store. Surprisingly, something actually caught my eye. A rusty cylinder of metal poked out from beneath some old blankets. I reached down to pick it up, and an eerie shadow was cast over me. I froze and my heart started beating a hundred beats per second. "Give it to me" a deep voice said. "Resisting me comes with major consequences, like for instance, your life."

My hands were dripping sweat like a sprinkler squirts water. There were two outs and we were down by a run. The next batter was a slugger, two for two in the game. I was afraid that he would smash a home run right over the fence. My heart was beating like a drum. As the pitcher let go of the ball, I blinked. When I opened my eyes, I say the ball going toward the gap of me and the first baseman. I couldn't do anything but react. So, I shifted to the left and ran right toward the ball. I stuck out my glove and just barely plucked the ball out of the air. As I felt it hit the webbing, I turned, transferred the ball to my hand and threw. The first baseman grabbed the ball and "HE'S OUT!" i just saved my team from allowing a run. Baseball rocks.

It was dark, nobody was with me but me, myself and I. But then in the corner I see a strange, mysterious figure. "Hello?" I asked "I just need some help to get out of here." But he did not answer, but then just as I tried to tap him on the shoulder to see if he was O.K. He spun his head 180 degrees around and he was missing half of his jaw!

Waking up with the sun up high and shining, a small ray sneaking through the shutters and across my face. The sweet smell of breakfast soon wafts in, something crisp and warm like this very day, making my stomach grumble, protesting against my feet which simply wouldn't move from under the covers. The sweet taste of strawberries, still dancing on my tongue from the night before, dipped in fine chocolate that dripped over my chin. There's no reason to get up, its a sunday, a beautiful, lazy sunday. So I slump back onto the wrinkled sheets and let the birds outside sing me to sleep, harmonizing with the distant cars and church bells. Soon I fall back into a dream, wishing as I do every weekend, that these days would go on forever.

The Figure...

I had just walked into the mysterious fog from the safe haven of the store. The only light was from the moon, stars, and the giant buzzing neon sign above me. As I walked down the eerie street I realized that there was a figure standing in the middle of the road, I walked toward cautiously yet puzzled at the same time. Multiple thoughts raced through my brain, multiple horror cliches popped in the shape standing in the street. I began to slow my pace towards the horrifying figure, it seemed oddly alive, staring at me, staring into my soul. I couldnt make out the creatures face however that wasnt my largest problem, I stopped in my tracks at the sound of breathing, the hairs on my neck quickly rose. I quickly turned around ad found nothing, I walked forward despite my feeling. However now something felt wrong, I looked in front of me and found a shock, the figure was gone. I frantically searched the area for the figure and when I turned around there it was. No farther than 3 feet behind me, I got a good look at it, blood red eyes, tall, and a black veil disguised the rest of its hideous face. It grabbed me by the neck, I dropped my produce and began to scream, however it would do me no good. My vision began to become as black as the creatures veil. I slowly slipped away from life as the creature let out a bloodcurtling cackle. THE END

The scent of the burnt match was lingering in the air. The darkness surrounded me in complete terror, my eyes had adjusted to nothing no shapes, no outline, completely nothing. Its not the fact that I couldn't see that horrified me, it was the fact that I could feel the breath of whatever that was chasing me at the back of my neck which made me run even faster. The blindness of my eyes caused me to trip over something but I had no time to worry about that I had to run and thats....."Beep,beep,beep," Its time to start a new day and push away just another dream.

"No it's too scary!" I told my friend. "Stop being such a chicken. Come ‘on let's go!" James said. Eventually he got me to get on it. As I sat down and lifted my arm the man came by and pulled down the bar followed by an eerie and irritating creek coming from it. I sat there helplessly like a little dog, I took a huge gulp, and I knew this was going to be the worst experience ever! 3 2 1 and off I were. Forward, backward, upside down, sideway! I swear I could feel the blood rushing to my head. Double corkscrews, going upside down, I thought it would never be over. All of a sudden we started to climb higher and higher and higher. As i looked down all I could see as endless clouds. And then it happened, as we started falling my heart started to pound faster and faster, I started to get Goosebumps all over my arms. As we were almost down I started to get this nauseas feeling. Finally we pulled up were we started and before my friend could have asked me how the ride was I was already heading for the bathroom "I HATE ROLLERCOASTERS"!

As I stand there waiting for the referee to give me the ball for my first foul shot. I sit there just waiting and the ref finally gives me the ball I know if I make the first one its a tie game and if I make the second one we win... I have the ball in my hands wanting to tie the game, I let the ball glide out of my hands trying to make shore I at least tie the game the game with one shot. The crowd on there feet in anticipation... It felt like forever but I hit the first shot... I had tied the game. But the second shot was more important... I receive the ball, I stand there nervous hopeless but I pictured the whole arena empty just me,a hoop and a ball. my palms are sweaty like someone getting out of a sweltering sauna, my team awaits the miss or the make I bend my knees 0.1 seconds left the ball leaves my finger tips. The light, magical snowflakes fall softly on my silky dark hair as I step out into the winter wonderland. White surrounds my vision and my face immedately lights up with the greatest joy. "I may have been born as a California baby, but I have definitely changed into that New England loving girl." I told them as we walked on the once grey but now white sidewalk. Feeling spontaneous I fell straight onto my back in the fluffy white powder and made an angel, afterwards looking up to the sky to show God my creation. The smile couldnt be wiped off my face, as if it was drawn with sharpie marker, non-eraseable. My breath is minty and white in the brisk winter air. Ten seconds left. We are down by one. There is a silence in the gym when I go in for a lay-up. I go up and she slams me back down. "She's" huge. Towering over me by almost a foot. I hear the whistle blow and the referee calls a foul. I walk to the line remembering everything my dad taught me. I get the ball. "Two shots." I take my time, breathe, and shoot. *Swish* The first one is in. The crowd goes wild! Now it's a tied game. I get the ball again, take a deep breath and shoot. The ball bounces from one side of the rim to the other, deciding to go in or not. The gym is still, and silent. I squeezed my eyes shut waiting for the crowd's reaction to tell me if I brought my team to victory.

I had to walk my grandmothers dog today and it was terrable! The dog reminded me of an over sized walking sausege. It was so slow and warbled every where. I practectly had to drag it up the sidewalk! Then of course I just so happened to walk by a bunch of screaming Gerrmy kids. They all came over and asked if they could pet the drooling thing they call a dog. So I had to stand there and wait for them to finish squealing over the dog which by the way took for ever! Gosh it was such a long day and what made it worse was that the mut had to roll in dog poop! I mean really?!? So I had to give the dog a bath and it wouldn't stop barking and all I have to say really is that it was the worst day ever!

To an unsespecting eye it was nothing, it looked like a normal barn. That was technically true, on the surface. Under the barn is where my life changed for good, the whole world changed. It happened 25 years ago, i should have expected it it seemed that it was drawing me in it was dark and mysterious, but i let it, i let it have me it was if it had taken over my mind but i walked. I walked right into that rust colored beaten up barn and fell through... Under the barn was a intellectual sanctuary a real life garden of eden. Only instead of angels there were demons.

My face was dripping with sweat as I approached the free-throw line. We were down by two in the championship game, and I knew if I made both of the shots then battle would've went to overtime. The ref passed my the ball and I did my nor al routine. I bounced the ball twice on the hardwood court, then spun the ball in my hands. I shot the ball and it went off the square on the backboard right in the hoop. That's when the pressure rose to a whole other level. The championship game depended on my last foul shot. The crowd was anxious while waiting patiently for me to take my final free-throw. This was the moment I've been working towards my whole life. This was the big game that I've always wanted to be in. The ref handed me the ball and I did my routine for the last time. I bounced the ball twice, and spun it in my hands. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to try and calm myself down. I bent my knees, bent my elbow in, and rose the ball above my head. Then I took my last shot.
