Welcome to 7 Red!

Hello everyone!  I am very happy to be meeting all of you on this finale of August and summer. This day reminds me of the opening to Natalie Babbit's novel, Tuck Everlasting. She writes, "...August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning.” Please join me as this pause comes to an end and we ride through 7th grade together. Click on "Comments" below and post about what you are leaving behind with summer, what you are looking forward to, and any questions that you might have. Enjoy!

Mrs. Scott,
Over the summer I learned to water ski! I'm leaving behind all the rainy days and taking with me great memories! I had so much fun! Even though it took me a while, I can now every summer water ski! This year I am looking forward to creative writing. My question is if we will be able to free/creative write.

As I unpack my car the tar burns my feet to a crackling crisp.I feel like I'm in the Sahara desert. It's the hottest day of the summer and everyone is baking in the sun. I feel like I just got off a plane from unpacking all the resourceful things for the beach. The drinks we have cool us down to a chill. As we heat up we can see the water boiling from the heat in the tidal pools. I get the whiff of sunscreen as it blows into our face and body. The sound like a army marching towards us as they crash into the now smooth sand. The day dies off but the tar still feels like fire as we pack the car back up to head home. By: Benjamin S. Cumming
