Exploded Beach Moments

An exploded moment looks at life through a microscope so that you can appreciate all of the fine details of a moment.  Today we will be brainstorming some of the things we can see, hear, taste, touch and smell at the beach.  Use our class ideas or your own in order to explode a moment on the beach.  Post in comments below and sign your name.

Even though that I don't like the beach I still think that it is a great category. I saw that me and my group today were coming up with some great ideas. Is was also kind of fun with the category because for some ways of describing it it was quite funny in a way and In some ways it was kind of really explanatory. It seemed like everyone liked the category and I hope that for ther rest of the year we will be able to use the iPads to do this throughout the year!!

As I stand on the sandy soil, the sand blows across my feet, as I smell the salty sea air, it seems to smell like fish. Dead fish at that. The roar of the waves crashing and pummeling, they sound like a threat...though, they seem peaceful at the same time. Then I realize the sand blows harder across my feet, it seems to get hotter as I stand. The water becomes more white, the light of the sun reflects off the water. Blinding me, the sand smacks me in eyes...I then wipe my hands over the uneven pebbles in my eyes, I then see the great view of the gigantic ocean. I then walk away, satisfied.

I sat at the beach watching the was where the sun was so bright and beautiful there was no minuite to spare. The water was so cold I felt like an icicle I felt like I was taking a bath with a polar bear. When I walked out I ran to my towel but, halfway there I got clawed by a crab, it hurt so much that thinking about driving home and stepping on the gas it made me mad. But I fell asleep in the soft sand and got the best tan that I ever have. But I didn't realize that it was almost time for high tide so I got cold again. But then I left and went to warm up in the jaccuzzi, and then in went home. It was very hard to drive but I had to deal with it now.

When I stepped on the beach the salty sea air filled my lungs. I heard the seagulls fighting over left over scraps as the barreling, crashing waves came in. A lighthouse in the distance standing strong and lean caught my attention. As I entered the ocean the water chilled me to the bone. As I the beach I saw the spray of a whale in the distance. I walked on the beach slowly and smelled the fresh scent of the ocean. Ruff sand stuck in between my toes. I set my towel and umbrella down and walked toward the loud, breaking waves on the sea shore. I gazed toward the blazing sun in my eyes. As my feet dipped in the cold ocean, I held my breath and took another step. Here I am, in the ocean.

I went to York beach for 4th of July, I was walking to the beach with my cuzon Ashley Powell, I was on the sidewalk and I lookout at the waves crashing, they were beautiful. We got on the beach and we dropped the stuff off and ran to the waves. I was so numb that i was about to run up to the spot and get in a towel but I love the waves and the ocean. We were in the hot sand, and FREEZING water everyday of that week. I love the beach!!!!!!

As I sit on the warm scratchy sand I listen to the loud squawking of the seagulls as they search for food. I can still taste the salty seawater in my mouth from being thrown underwater by a massive wave.

I walked right across the hot sand to go to the water with the hot sand burning my feet that it felt like I was standing on the sun. I finally got to the water and the smell of the beautiful waves took me under the water then the stench of the dead fish in the distance overcame the buckets of the sea. I could hear the seagulls squawking with their feet buried in the sand as they looked for people's food. Then I see the fins of the fins of the dolphins in the far distance as tree far on a canvas.

I stood there as I see the sun going to sleep for the night on the silky horizon. I hear the midnight color waves plummeting towards the shore as the giant frozen monsters numb my toes. I smell the board walk food stinging my senses. I taste the salty wind whipping through my hair. My exploding moment at the beach...

The soft sand squishes between my toes as I skip to where the perfect sandcastle sand lies. I dump out my plastic tools, while smelling the salty, sea breeze. I fall to the ground and start the sculpting of a new world. Sand and grit pelt my eyes as I work. The taste of salt stings my tongue but I don't stop. Finally my master piece is finished sand I stare at my hard work. I sigh as the giant destructive bottle sucking monster destroys my sculpture.
I guess that's my present from my cousin.

GThe Ocean

I walked  to the water. The cool water caressed my feet, a refreshing change from the scorching heat of the sand.  I dived in  the icy, explosive water shocks my system. Speeding up my heart beat. Just as I came up, I opened my mouth to breath, I am attacked by a salty deadly wave of pure hatred. The saltwater stung my eyes. I flipped around Under water. Which way was up? I let out a precious bubble of air. I followed in in the direction I assumed was up. I broke through the icy ocean. I climbed up to the beech. I laid down on my towel. The constant bee ing hummed me to sleep.

As the cool breeze ticklels my nose with a slight scent of sea blossoms I hear the angry roar of the waves as they roll into the rocks with a crashing halt and a wispy splash. The sun blazes down on my skin leaving a crisp glow and the water glides across my glowing skin. It is all calm until the seagulls start gnawing on a delcasy when the thurn to at a fierce screech telling them all to bow at the feet of the leader. The leader wants the dead fish that turns my stomach onto a roller coaster as I breath in the dreadful air.

The sand is alight with the fire of the blazing sun. Sea salt tangs the air like the electricity of lightning  before a thunderstorm. Waves roar as they surge towards the shore and ebb with the strength of hundreds. Another one comes and up I am lifted, then down again with nought but a rustle. In, out, in, out, ever raging, never ceasing. A breeze floats by me as I go farther out, bringing the clean smell of sea salt, always the the smell of sea salt.

Finally it begins it decent down down it goes and ding! It's on yes I have succeeded! A ringer it is. I go around doing my celebration dance.

I take a step onto the wooden path as hard as a tree. Next thing I know i feel my brother's sandy hand, from rolling around, he grabs me and we start running and he let's go, I take a step, I sink into the sand feeling relaxed and empty.I hear the seagulls barking. Smell the salty sea air like a onion in my face trying to make me cry. But it won't work today, I sit down and I say this is what I have been waiting for all year! :)

SPLASH is the sound the ocean made when it took me under, the next thing i knew i was under the water unable to breathe, every time  i gasped for air there wasn't any. I didn't know if I was going to live or if that was going to be the last time I was ever going to see my friends or anything ever again.

The gigantic wave caught me by surprise and knocked me down. The rip tide ripped me out under the crashing waves into the barren sea. I struggled to breathe my back pummeled into the sand. I thought I was gonna drown. With my last effort I surged towards the surface. When I broke the surface I gasped for air, lucky to be alive. Calvin Whipple

As my feet hit the burning sand it was burning them to a singe. Has I sat on the blanket the sand was pelting me as the seagle barked in my ears. As I head into the ocean the waves crushed down on me the salt water hitting my face them I tast the salt stinging my taste buds with sourness. I came back up from the ocean as I smelt the delightness of fried dough. I followed the smell as my taste buds were urging me to go further. As I left the beach the sand was hitting my back as if it didn't want me to leave.

The sun beat down on her shoulders as she lay on the beach. It was hot but in a pleasant way, like the weather she had waited all spring for. It was calming and relaxing, at least until the seagulls came and attacked her, like a group of barking flightier  planes.  They took all her food for themselves leaving her without a snack.

I once I dash into the water, I feel like I'm in a warm ice bath(if that's even possible) . When your at the beach nothing else seems to matter. It takes the edge of stress. Comment if u agree!

When I first sunk my feet into the warm sand, I felt the magic of the beach rush through my body.
The beating sun scorched my skin as it turned to a shade of crimson, but that  didn't stop me from enjoying the day ahead of me.
My mind raced as I saw the beautiful ocean from heaven that carried the massive waves to the shore.
I could not wait to leap into the icy cold waves that would make my life a dream...

The smell of the ocean drifting through the air in a never ending cycle. The call of the seals howling at each other at the faraway peninsula made of the sharp edges of the cleft rocks. The scorching sun blazing down on the  boiling sunblock. The frost of the ice-cream trickling down the quilted cone and finally cooling my burning skin. The magnificent crash of the ocean lulling to a calming sleep.

Rocks and sand backpedal on my feet. I can feel the salt drizzling off my skin. The sand snaps my feet like quick sand.I can feel the waves drifting into the water creating the the explosive waves. Boom I get trampled by the gigantic wave. I go diving into the water caught by the wave. I only see misty cloudy water out of the rearview of my eyes. I stand in the sun baking me like a cookie in the oven. The sand washes through my toes soothing me like my mother cradling me as child. With the waves crashing on the shore it sounds as if I am playing my favorite song, but It's broken up by the sound of the screeching seagulls fighting for scraps left behind by young children.

As I run along the seashore, the rough sand gives my sneakers a drowning in sand. My heart pounds as if it is a nervous penny on the rail tracks right before the train comes, in agony. The salty mist of the waves wipe the sweat away from my scorching hot face as the sun beats down on me likes spotlight searching for a wanted fugitive. As I approach a little girl and her sandcastle, I think of the good times I had here, when I was here age. Young and joyful. And yet to think, I have grown, but I have come back to where I belong. The squawking seagulls, the smell of suntan lotion in the air surrounding me, beach towels layer down to dry. I smell the dead fishing looming in the ocean water wondering what to do with it's self.

As I continue my run I come across a broken toy sail boat. The poor child who lost it, he must be devastated. I imagine what might happen to it if it's left there. It could be dragged out into the middle of the ocean, lost forever in the oceans mystically enraged waves, so I pick it up. And that was just the beginning of my journey.

I laid back in my plastic beach chair, sticky in the heat. Already my skin was roasting in the sun, which was slowly setting over the ocean, bathing the beach with an orange glow. The setting sun was no rest from the heat, as I could see the oncoming heat waves advancing on the innocent beach-goers like an army. I waded waist deep into the salty relief from the summer air. I could see the bottom, crabs scuttling around my feet with their claws held high. The seagulls wheeled above me, cackling like a bunch of hyenas. The dock groaned under the weight of itself and it's aged wood. My head got dunked under and salt eater filled my mouth. I came up sputtering and coughing, and I staggered out of the ocean and onto the steaming sand, not caring when it stuck to my feet. The waves hammered against the shore endlessly, and I watched as the sun finally sank under the horizon, leaving the beach covered by the blanket of dark.

Today the clouds are as soft as cotton  candy you buy at the fair

The beach waves crashing on the shore always calls my name the sunset on the beach drags me away. The pink patches across the sky take me far away like a prisoner getting stole from his home
The smell of the sea water taste salty on my hot tongue like lava on the cold ground.
My mother was treating my like baby so we had a huge fight against her and I  like two seagulls fighting over crab.
The waves were hammering against my boogie board like a hammer on nails
My kyak is drifting away with me in it my friend is trying to help me but the current is to strong. The current is as strong as a athlete on steroids. Seasells are strangling my feet I'm having pains and the sound of a glass vase breaking. Sea glass is scattered at the beach I am now relaxed

I watch as the waves reached towards the clouded sky then strike the beach with great force, grasping a collection of pebbles and shells. The sun beating down on me like a drum, scorching my skin till it's a shade of scarlet. Seagulls squawking out commands, so loud that it was piercing my  ears. The high pitched shrieks and giggles of small children. Their kites high above touch the passing planes. Tiny grains of sand give my foot a silky texture and craps pinch my toes with fury. I watch as a turtle, along with it's siblings, makes his way plummeting towards the water, after just hatching from it's hard shelled egg. Somedays I am just a fish in the ocean.

I was sitting on my beach chair watching a crab and then all of a sudden whoosh!!! A seagull swooped in and took the crab in less than a second it was gone. When I got up the. Sand felt as if it was a freshly cooked marshmallow. I went in the water and I almost froze like an ice cube. The water was as cold as the arctic. The waves looked like majestic birds dive-bombing for a fish. The water was so clear it looked like a piece of glass.

The crabs looked like little kids playing like there was no danger at all. The smell from the concession stand taunted my taste-buds I was about to go get a price of fried dough but then AHHHHHHH!! Someone started screaming someone was being dragged out to sea. Then all of a sudden a boat comes and all I van see is the boat rushing towards the shore. I call an ambulance when the boat gets in the person is unconscious and bleeding very badly the ambulance drives away with it's sirens on. This was the craziest day at the beach I've ever had.

The boats out in the middle of the ocean looked peaceful as I watched with a tired look.
I glanced to the right of the boat, for I saw a stir in the water next to it.
WHOOSH! A massive whale emerged from the water, leaving a mist blasted into the air.
I gasped in awe as it's body was shown completely out-of-water. I immediately snapped a photo that would have a place in an album forever.

WAM!!! The massive Pacific waves knock me right off my numbing feet.  I gulp for air but it seems impossible to ever breath! As I contuine to struggle up to the surface of the water I keep getting pulled under farther and farther out into the ocean.  I can hear my mom yelling to me but I cant make out what she is saying. At this point I am so deep in the water I can barley touch I am so chilly that my whole body is shutting down on me I just feel slight tingles.  I say to myself you are not going to die not now not today! I finally climb to the surface and I gasp for air. Finally the  roaring waves stopes to a silence. I swim to the shore as fast as my body let's me scared that more waves will arrive.

As I look across the water I see the light fade before my eyes as it hits the rolling beast. It turns the monster into a soothing picture to my eyes. Right then I knew this is the beauty of all summers. As I end my jurney of this perfect day I return to mt chair, book and towel and feel as if I'm walking across the sun. With each step I take I crush the corps of the beached creature that once lied there. Once again I travel across the sun and return to my car. I walked onto the warm, beach sand. Breezy winds sent my hair flying all over the place. The different food smells made me drool. Fried Dough, French Fries, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers. The smell of ocean water woke me up. The sound of roaring waves crashed into the seashore. The seagulls were squaking and searching for food. The sound of people screaming, laughing, having fun. Once everyone left, I saw the beautiful purple and pink sky. At the end of the day, this became the most awesome day yet!! :]

The blazing hot but welcoming sand gives me a hop in my step, speeding me up while I look for a spot on the white beach. The salty air tingled my tastebuds jolt after jolt as if I were eating crackers non stop. I heard the CRASH of the rolling waves washing away the remains of a once finished sand castle. I saw a bird flying away to it's family finding food for its young. Cole Archambeault

As I slowly, calmly walk down the beach I see the tiny seagulls prints in the damp sand. I'm looking down not knowing where im going but I'm following the sound of the frigid cold water. I can feel the ocean breeze while my toes barely touch the water, the water is seeping into my pours. As the waves are being pushed back into the ocean I can feel my feet sinking into the moist sand. I can see little openings in the sand as if a little erchant is ready to pop out of the sand and bite my toes off as if they were the badest monster in the world. I look as far as my eyes can reach and I see the foggy ocean as it meets the blue sky. Both of the colors look they same and I can barely tell them apart.  Kylie

Errrrrrrr! The car stops.. Were at the beach! There's nothing that could make this a better day. I have my flip flops on. Have my bathing sout ready for a dive and I got my sunscreen on. I bolted down to the beach and flong of my flip flops and pounced right into the major waves. The salty taste made me wana gag. It dried out my mouth as I went farther out and into the ocean. The icky feeling of seaweed is gross and before I knew it it was time to go... As the sunset set I dragged myself to the car. Tim Osgood.

As I jump into the water with my cousin, I feel the cold water splash against my legs. When I hop on my buggie board the wave takes me and my cousin in and the last thing I saw was my face about to hit the water. I'm helpless, as my face hits the ocean floor.    Zacks's Paragraph:  This had to be the most boring beach I had ever been to. Instead of the roaring waves, that pummel, crush and spin you under their watery feet, this beach was filled with the gentle lapping of barely foaming waves, from a calm and clear harbor. Peaceful, but I go to the beach to get crushed, not relax. The beach was nice though. It had a fine powdery sand, that stuck to you, and molded into your hands like clay if you picked it up. It coated everything it touched, and was a pure shade of white that almost hurt to look at. The water was as cold as the Sprite I had, just from the cooler. My toes turned purple, and I couldn't even move them. And the crabs. The demonic crabs, raising their little claws in the air, daring me to step on them as they scuttled along the oceans floor. The air didn't even smell salty, and the water didn't taste salty either. This made it more enjoyable to swim in, because if you swallowed water, it didn't have the salty punch that the real oceans water had. And the air smelt different, instead of the oceans salty tang, it was the revolting smell of rotting crabs, that would invade your nose, even if you were under water, no matter how hard you tried to evade it. And the smell brought the bane of the beach. Flies. Buzzing, biting, flies, attracted to the terrible smell of dead crabs. You couldn't even move without being bit by one of the little demons. Zack

As I walk towards the sea I feel the windy sea breeze brush by my face and whistle by my ear. In the background I hear seagulls chirping hysterically . As I take my first step into the cold but refreshing sea a chill runs up my spine, I step back and stare like hawk into the sea, I tell myself to suck it up and go into the cold water. I take a deep breath and dunk in, I thrash up from the water feeling relieved that I had got it over with and now I can go father.
I swim gracefully through  the sea looking for seashells and fish.  A lusting hunger runs through my stomach and I rush out of the water and head for my picnic cloth and basket and dig in as my sandwich overwhelms over the salt water taste. I feel exhausted after the day and head home.

The smell of the blistering blue ocean made my nose stiff as a tree. The scorching sun cut straight through my skin in a explosion of heat. The burning sun on the sand melted my feet to a pulp. The ocean moving like a sowing machine towards and backwards. I watch the sea crumble down onto a small child. The sea sprints closer and closer in a invasion of water. Ahhhhh the waves reached there strong arms and grabbed me under the deep blue sea. I reached up and pushed the water down to get air. Finally gasping to breath I swam to shore. When I reach the sand I felt like it was sizzling like a frying pan beneath my feet. Getting out of the water I look out to sea. I saw the rocks that look like witches cackling about their next potion they were going to make. I wondered what they were going to make, maybe a potion to make the sea saltier or maybe something to have the sea speak to you. All of the sudden I screamed I look down were I found a little red crab hanging on onto my piggy toe for dear life. It looked as if it was frightened of the water. So I picked up the crab cautiously and put it on to the rocks nearby. As the day went on the sun shimmered over the sea like when the sun shines off a mirror and slowly went down. I had, had a very extraordinary day like no other.

When I walked onto the beach, the sand under my feet felt like hot coals scorching my skin. Every person that was on the beach was as tan as a piece of burned popcorn. I ran down to the water, trying to relieve my feet of the scorching sand. Just looking at the gigantic waves made my stomach turn to slush. I dipped my feet into the ice cold water , my back against the waves. A big wave came over me like a dark shadow and pushed my head under the water. It tossed me and threw me and pummeled me. The salt that caught in my mouth tasted sour and nasty, and stung my mouth. Once the waves were done with there fun and let me come back up, I grew my head up, gasping for air. I decided to leave the water and went back to my sand chair. I felt a sharp pinch at my toes that hurt as much as a bullet. I looked down and saw a small crab pinching my toes. I laughed. That only happened in movies. I ran to my chair, trying not to burn my feet again, and sat down, relaxing in the hot sun.

I was walking down the boardwalk and the fresh scents of the concession stand filled my nose. Walking down to the beach where the tiny crumbs of sand gave my feet little massages one by one. The beautiful smell of the salty ocean fills me with the sound of squawking seagulls and the ocean crashing against the beach. Squawking as if they hadn't eaten in years and their fuzzy feathers were falling from the sky. As my feet sink into the sand below the ocean in felt as if I were in a frozen waste land. Waves crashing into me as I walk through the knee deep water. The ocean was so cold it made my feet so numb that they were tingling, like the feeling of pins and needles poking you. The most beautiful sunset ever seen and broken seashells scattered everywhere, watching my step so I don't feel the pain if I step on one. Innocent fish swim around my knees with their scaly skin shimmering when the sunlight hits it. So many sounds of the ocean and so many things to see. Impossible to put it all on paper.

Ah, the beach.. I saw the border of water in the distance. My eyes popped open like a deer caught in headlights. I hopped out of the car car before we reached a stop. It was exhilarating, I couldn't wait. My eyelids dropped, heavy and droopy, as I listened to the soft sound of waves crashing on the sand. I opened my eyes and watched as an angry wave threw itself into a rock with a crashing "THUD!" and a wispy "SPLASH!"
I could no longer wait, for I was enthralled. I rushed out onto the beach, grinding my feet into the rough sand as it filled the space between my toes. I watched as a close by seagull dropped out of the sky like a falling plane, fighting for scraps of food. As I walked out farther I could feel the warm sun bake my skin into a fresh loaf of golden bread.
The icy water numbed my toes as I wandered out farther. I love it, the beautiful feeling as I launch myself through a monstrous wave. The smell of dead fish wafting through the air like the ocean's garbage garbage. That feeling when salty air fills your lungs, leaving you gasping, searching for air and water.
Everything, from dusk to dawn, so beautiful, so right, so... Perfect. The beach, my own little fairy tale.
